Do we have to set our theme back to the original before running this Magic Stick Easy Installer? I didn't see a step for that in the guide. I thought I read that we might get a semi-brick if we don't.

"We"?

Anyways, I think you should have the original theme although I don't know why it would bother the installation process.

Well, that's for Larry's guide. If you're unsure then you can always change the theme back to normal.

Thanks, I was unsure so I switched it back. I had an extra memory stick so I decided to make a preemptive magic memory stick in case my PSP ever goes out. I don't know anyone around me who has CFW. By my estimation if I ever end up with a brick, the worst I'll have to do is buy a pandoras battery and then I'll be able to get my PSP back to today's state in a matter of minutes, right?

@carp940
If you use U.P.M.S. you can use the original battery of Phat or Slim. So no need to buy one just make it. If on a slim you do need two batteries but yeah don't buy it, make it with our work. That is why we put this all together. No need for a "tool battery" or ebay ripoffs. This will give you the ability to convert it back and forth or leave it as is. On a Phat just leave it pandora and install the multi IPL.

Yes this is normal, don't forget the installer is 17mb, so as long as you seen the ms light flashing, then it's still installing.

@ ovrfiendx and BTFan

I have a phat PSP

Maybe I don't understand it fully. I only backed up the battery eeprom and made the Magic MS, I didn't make the pandoras battery. If my PSP becomes bricked I won't be able to make the battery, right? That's why I said I'll need to buy one. Is it possible to make one whith a bricked PSP?

I do know someone who has a OF PSP, so I'm thinking I'll just con him into letting me make a PB while using his and then revert my battery back using mine when it's fixed.

Is it possible to run a PSP normally using a pandoras battery? or will it try to revert back to 1.50 upon every boot?

You install it using the UPMS.cso file...
SO when I run the UMPS.cso in the GAME Menu I get both the Hellcat and Joker Menu?

Yes, only if you run the steps.
It should be step 1 - IPL.

Step 2 - This is only if you don't have a battery in service mode(JigKick). If you have your battery in service mode then you can skip step 2.

Step 3 - The installation. That's where you get to choose to install HELLCAT, Joker Menu or both of them.

Step 4 - I didn't use it so I don't have a clue.

QUESTION:
dEEz_nUtz
I close my PSP when it takes like half an hour to install. Then I open it again and it says "done". Is that OK?

sorry to post again but wont be able to get back on line for a while,

if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.....

i have followed all steps in guide using fat 340-oe psp, i already had a pandora's battery which worksed fine on 3.60 ofw slim.

using this battery and my the mem stick i've just created i put in my friends 3.71ofw slim holding down L, the screen flashes then goes blank, no memcard light but power light stays on.

then nothing, no menus at all

The mem card is original sony 1gb, and battery is original 1800 as well.

Only thing i can think of is i need to re-do battery with this software, will this help?

i've gone through steps 3 times now just in case but nothing pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese help!!!

alos i noticed the firmware files are now being renamed with dot in - ie 3.40.PBP on another guide i have seen the names were 340.PBP no dot in which is correct???

wont be on line for about 20hrs but any help really appreciated and keep up the great work everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks

You can't just copy the files... the stick has to be made using a PSP.

when you say close, do you mean you shut it off, or put it in sleep mode? If it says 'done' then it should be good-the only way to make sure is test it out...

@N01NOob -did you get your issue sorted? You can use both Hellcat and Joker providing you selected the 'multi-IPL' option on step #1

@carp940-I made my UPMS on a psp running 3.52M33-4 with a custom theme on the flash, and it worked fine...
I would recommend getting a spare battery and converting to pandora before you have a brick on your hands and no way to convert it..Also you cannot make a battery on OFW, so your best bet is to go back and convert it while you still have cfw running...You can always convert it back if need be...
Another trick you can do is insert the UPMS and the pandora battery, and rather than hold down the L trigger, just let it boot into the XMB-from there you can switch the memory stick to one you use normally for games, mp3's, etc...

@rayrod354-It wont work because the other memory stick does not have an IPL written to it-but something you can try is running the UPMS program on your other memory stick to write the IPL to your memory stick (step#1), then copy/paste the files you have on your other memory stick to the new one.

@alunb-the battery you have currently will work fine, you just need to make sure that when you run the UPMS program, that you write the correct IPL from step #1 (recommended: 'multi-IPL') then when you place the firmware eboots onto your memory stick-make certain that they are named 150.PBP, 340.PBP, and 371.PBP-and dont have a double '.PBP' extension (ex: 1.50.PBP.PBP)-You can remedy this by going to a windows explorer window on your computer- go to: >tools>folder options>'view' tab> then uncheck "Hide Extensions for known file types"..

I would do that, then try running the UPMS program again to get the files on the memory stick.

Yes, I placed it in sleep mode.
I can't test it because if I take out my 4GB, it can crack and might break. So I'll have to give it a go at the last minute or buy a card reader...

EDIT:OK, I'm testing it out - wish me luck :)
EDIT: Worked out fine(relieved lol)
