hello guys
i am new to these kind of matters, so please forgive me if it seems that i am asking the impossible... The thing i want to do is simple: take a dvd movie, split it in 2 parts (maybe the movie in one and the special contents in the other if, off course, the movie is not too long), keep the full menu in both parts and burn them. I'd rather not have any loss of quality due to recompression in the process. I hope that the "keeping menus" part is possible, cause i'd like to browse the entire menu in each disc, and simply have no access to the features that i did not burn in that particular disc. I hope also that i can do all this with a user friendly program like instant copy 8, without going mad switching from a dvd ripper to a transcoder to a multyphasic-electromagnetic-inverter and hard stuff like that.
then the real answer.......Is all this possible? If not, which of my desires should i give up? Which is the cruel reality of things?
please guys, enlight me!
thank you all

It's possible. I'm struggling to do the same thing myself.
I'm using DVD Decrypter to burn the disk to my hard drive. From there I use DVD FAB to create two folders for the two disks I'm going to burn. That's as far as I've gotten. I can create two disks with the complete uncompressed movie, but I haven't been successful in capturing or using the menu information.
There was a guide posted that described what files were neccessary for the menu to work. I saw it a few months back when I was first thinking about getting a DVD burner. I'll let you know where to get it if I find it again.

I've found the guide. It's at
http://www.dvdr-digest.com
go to the articles section and look for the "Quick DVD Backup Guide". Go to page 4 of the guide: Backing up DVD-9 to two DVD?Rs.
Forget about DVD FAB. I don't think it can do what we want. You're going to need DVD Decrypter, IFOEdit, and ImgTool. All three are free. :)

Cyberlord, I want to do the same, but I have windows XP and I believe IFOEdit is not consistent with XP. Any other recommendations.

Thanx

Sorry, but I don't really look into compatiblity beyond Linux and Win98SE. I've converted to Linux for everything but DVD burning, so I have little to no knowledge of Windows or what runs on it after 98SE.

Hi guys,

just browsing along when I noticed the latter half of this thread.

IFOEdit DOES work with XP, most of the problems people have with it is due to a Microsoft Security roll-up Patch (KB826939) - that breaks IFOEdit.

If you UNINSTALL the patch (KB826939), then install all the individual patches that were rolled into it, IFOEdit will continue to work.

Dum-de-dum-de-dum...
Don't mind me folks, just browsing.

Have Fun...

Life is just more of the same:
