I think either my Swap Magic or my backup games are causing EXTREME wear and tear on my PS2. I had my PS2 repaired by Sony 4 months ago. 2 months ago i got Swap Magic and started using backups. However, now I'm getting ALOT of disc read errors and it seems as tho my PS2 is having trouble reading discs. Is using Swap Magic or backups causing wear and tear to my PS2's laser?
well....kinda but i got it repaired by Sony only 4 months ago. and my PS2 also has trouble reading non-backup games as well, i keep getting that Disc Read Error.
Well it's hard to Pin-point what exactly is causing wear and tear on your PS2. Listed below are some tips and facts about the PS2 that may be causing your problem.
1.)Since your using DVD+R Blank Media make sure to change it's Book type from DVD+R to DVD-Rom for better compatibility with the PS2 laser.
2.) Use the best quality Blank DVD media you can buy. I use Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R. Memorex is consider very poor blank DVD media.
3.) Some PS2 systems prefer DVD+R or DVD-R Blank Media just test this theory out by using two different types of DVD Blank media. My PS2 V7 (the old fat kind) will play both DVD-R and DVD+R (book type to DVD-Rom) media just fine.
4.) If you have a newer Ps2 (the thin kind)I have heard that they have very bad laser that will go out really soon.
