Hey all

I have a NTSC-J wii (japanese wii with wiikey)
I have updated to 1.9g without issue.

However when I did the update I pulled the power at 15% because of the region difference. Inserted a brick blocked copy and the SMG preview appears in the wii disc channel

when I click run I get a black screen.

Friend has a PAL wii did exactly the same procedure as me and his works

any ideas?

I can't let the update run because it'll likely brick my wii'
Any solutions???

Cheers for any help!!

I ran the 1.9g update and was able to get SMG to load up to the point where mario and P.Peach are in outspace and Mario gets blown off the castle and is hurdling toward earth....The game then stops and says there is a problem with the disk. I burnt several copies different discs different speeds all the same issue. Anybody else have this problem? What configs do people have on their systems to get it to work? I went straight from original wiikey to 1.9g, skipped 1.9b. Thanks.

I just updated it 2 times and got the homer simpson sound and still when I put the game in I get the same error 001.

I am running NTSC US wiikey and 3.1u.

I never updated the wiikey till today to 1.9g.

I ran the SMG update first then flashed it afterwards.

***Here are the steps I followed

Initializing drive....
Reading firmware data...done.
Stopping drive...

EJECT CD HERE

"Press A or reset to test flashing --PRESS A
TESTING.. please wait...
Success! Press any key" --PRESS A KEY

PUT CD BACK IN HERE.
THEN PRESS A

"Initializing drive....
Reading firmware data...done.
Stopping drive...

EJECT THE CD HERE
PRESS A

"Press A or reset to run update
Updating.. please wait...

You should hear Homer simpson say something if the flash worked.***

Does anyone else have the same problem.

Also the 1.9g disc I used is 40 megs it was NOT filechopped

That sounds like a bad burn cpetro

I had this issue with a backup I made of Metro id prime 3.
Try using a better high quality disc.

I have found that if it comes in a big stack of discs (ie 50). There no good.

Try buying some pricy ones that come in cases.

Finally using programs like image burn you can forcefully lower your default burning speed on your burner (1x is best)
Hope that helps

Did all of what was suggested. Burned to different media at different speeds (as slow as 4x) and still stops at the same part?

If your using high quality discs and still getting the issue it could be a bad unpack. You might want to re-extract your back up if it was compressed when you obtained it.

Fail that have you used a different brand of High quality discs.
I found a couple of expensive ones still gave me errors. Only the SONY discs in the cases work properly

Gah I wish I could play it, NTSC-J wii can't run it =(

Could I have a fake Wiikey? on the initial test once it reaches 100% it says

error test failed! Check your connections and try again

From what I have gathered that is the general consensus. The eject disc trick is not a fix, it just basically just tricks it into saying it was a success but does not actually update it. Most people are saying it means you do not have an authentic Wiikey - so basically a lot of people are finding out they have been screwed over by paying modders for an authentic Wiikey, but getting a clone. Yea, I know.

LOL, there never was a 1.2 wiikey firmware! The only firmware releases were the original and 1.9b and now 1.9g

You must be talking about the setup disc
Sry, i mean, i never upgraded to 1.9b, i had the one berfore 1.9 (i dont know if it was 1.1 or 1.2 i really dont know) I am just saying that i didnt have 1.9b on my original wiikey and went to 1.9g instead, (someone saying if that is possible or not), so far 40 stars on SMG and no problems, i turned the wii off several times to rest (umplugged from power too), have to try now again after 24 hours of cold down.

I did the following on my US WII (running 3.1U update from internet).

Downloaded 1.9g
Unrar 1.9g US
Filechopp
Burnt using Nero
Inserted on Wii (already had region free on)
Run disk
Test Run Ok Press A on GC controller
Upgrade Ok Pres A to Reebot (wait a bit)

Hope it helps.

Game is good, Buy it if you like it.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Verbatim DVD-R is from what I have seen, used, and read, the best media... and not only does it come in packs of 50, also comes in packs of 100.. Just remember, higher price does NOT mean higher quality necessarily. Memorex media is often pricier than better quality media, however it's garbage.

I installed the 1.9g update from a non-updated wiikey, and then put in mario galaxy and it worked fine. I ran the galaxy update before updating the wiikey as well. TDK DVD-R 4x on IMGburn.

Unfortunate to hear about non-authentic wiikey problems though...

I'm just going to wait for the official release of the update, I don't want to mess things up and do not care about Mario that much.

I'm running a NTSC-U Wii and i've got a wiikey up to the 1.9g.
All was going fine until SMG updated to the 3.1U.(Was playing with the original btw). Now after playing with it, 10 of my back-up doesn't work anymore. The Wii saw them but when i click start well it just reset the system. And also, it seems that those 10 are the newer game.
