Hello, I have a modded xbox with a mod chip that works flawlessly.
I do not play on line with it though.

A friend gave me an xbox soft modded but with a bad hard drive. He does not have backup eeprom files and does not have the original hard drive.

My problem, I need to lock the new hard drive. I have already 'built' the new hard drive c: and e: partitions.

I found potentially three ways to lock the hard drive. Basically I must have the eeprom.bin and cfg files.

1) Use a tool as shown here:

2) Remove the mod chip from my working xbox to my non working and lock the hard drive with a hard mod (I really do not want to re open my working xbox and take out a perfectly good chip to try to fix another xbox) << Last resort
3) Make a copy of the eeprom from the working xbox and use it in the non working xbox. This thread:

So my question. Is option # 3 valid? Will using the eeprom backup files from a working xbox able to lock the drive / fix the xbox that needs a new hard drive?

No, option 3 is not only dodgy, it's bordering on stupid!

It is also of no use to you as the Xbox has to be running!

Your only options are a modchip or an eeprom reader!

You can either build an eeprom reader as suggested or purchase one from eBay.
