Ok ive only reformatted my laptop after a few years after i had a few problems. So im just wondering what app's/software people would advise me to have/download on my system. What you's recommend??

i;m after downloading zonealarm, spybot s&d and Avg so far for protection. :)

Really that question is a little TOO general. It all depends on what you like to do with your PC as far as which programs i would tell you to get.
Like VLC player and Winamp are great media players
Avast is a great free real time virus protection program that updates quite often.
Nero 7 and IMGburn are great CD/DVD burning programs

the essential things to have would depend on what you like to do.
