I have created the 2 files which are 1.35gb big each and burned them to dvd-r's about 10 times, each time not working, sometimes the gamecube symbol appeared for the setup disc but thats it. Firstly does they need finalising, secondly which do I use first(the setup disc or the update) and thirdly do I definately need to use dvd-r's?
If you can help then please do or if there is another thread with the answers then please direct me to it because I have searched for hours and have wasted 15 dvds so far.

I would have to say yes to finalizing the DVD when you burn the update. there is no order to do the setup disc or update. I actually did the 1.3 setup first about 2 weeks ago. and just yesterday updated my clone chip to 1.9b, so it doesn't matter which order you do it in. and no you don't have to use dvd-r. I have been using DVD+R since I got a 100pk spindle and the Wii reads it all just fine, even the backup games. do a search for 1.9b update and it should pull up threads about others having problems and fixes to update.

can you load the setup disc? does that work at all? can you play any backup games? if so then your chip is installed correctly. you just need to make sure the update iso is correct for your Wii region and might have to filechop to the right size. I believe it's 1.4gig. that could be your problem there. good luck

Ive read about GCOS and needing the 1.2 setup disc to turn regionfree off.What do these mean.PS Im 3.0e.

I know that you can't update clones using 3.0 and on by simply putting in config/setup discs,
I don't know how you update them, but I just know that.
