Rotary, one more question and I'll leave you alone for awhile. What speed do you burn at? Thanks again for all your help!

I have a 16x burner and am using 8x disks. I thought I heard that you burn at half the speed of your burner or, is it half the speed of the disks?

i've been an 8x man for the longest time, though if a machine is heavily defragmented i'll do 4x.
Rotary, just trying out The Film Machine now to do an AVI that's in 2 parts so am hoping TFM will join it as advertised (using it with CCE SP2), you bent my arm :)

I burn my 8X media at 8X and my 16X media at 12X...excellent results all around, however I typically use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim and I've had the same results using Memorex, Maxell and TDK. I don't recommend the last three for everyone though.

I have been burning at 8x with Sony DVD-R's. Had some sync issues. So, switched to TY-2 8x. Also, put the avi's I had sync problems with thru AVI-MUX GUI. AVI-MUX GUI didn't show any problems. Which brings me to my next question. The sync issue is resolved since using TY's but, the picture doesn't seem as sharp to me - kind of fuzzy around the edges. Or, is it all in my head?

the one thing that is in your head is one type of discs having sync problems and one not having sync problems - the problems lie elsewhere

Actually, I wasted 3 disks (Sony) on the same movie. I guess I made a mistake. It wasn't a sync problem with them - it kept freezing in the same place. But, when I used a TY, it didn't freeze.

[re the tickbox in convertxtodvd titled "don't check/fix audio discontinuities" - that this should be left unticked.]
Another question for Creaky! The box that is just above this one asks if the sound should be adjusted automatically. Should this box be checked or unchecked? My pointer is just under half. Where should it be?

Rotary is much better placed to comment on all things AVI related as he's an AVI nutter :) and i've never done too much AVI stuff until recently... however..
..i always read that it's better to leave the "don't check/fix audio discontinuities" unticked so i leave it unticked personally, and i never mess with the auto audio adjustment tickbox either; as i say Rotary will be along and correct me if necessary, he knows his AVI's

So, you leave the auto audio adjustment tickbox unchecked as well? Where is your slider placed? I shall also wait for Rotary to remark as well. Thank you.

Hi Rotary,
I have an avi that the sync is out. In AVI-MUX GUI MS delay box, it indicates 576. When I click on start, i don't know what to do. It asks for a file name in 'Save As'. The type is an 'avi' or 'matroska'. Thank you in advance.

you just click start and save as (insert what ever you want to call file) then it will save it corrected
but did you play file to test sound first? as that sounds a hell of a lot to be out? i play about the middle of avi you can see if sync out there onwards to end of avi
is it a single avi?
if it plays beforehand out of sync files of that big a sync issue i usually find there bad files!

Hi Rotary,
Yes, it is a single avi. I didn't play it first. I just ran it thru AVI-MUX and then converted it. Actually, I had one yesterday that the delay said 2499. So, I corrected it and then converted, burned it and it's fine. Both of these avi's said that there were bad files in the 2nd audio line - the one that you click on to see what the delay is. On another note, I mentioned a while ago that I thought that the picture quality was not as good since switching to TY's. I did some testing and found that the picture quality is the same whether using Sony or TY. But, the dvd's that I converted and burned with Convertxtodvd are not near as clear picture-wise as with DVDFlick. Is there a setting I should be changing for the video on Convertxtodvd? Otherwise, I think I will go back to DVDFlick even though I paid over $40 to get Convertxtodvd without the watermark.
