are they any differences between already recorded professional dvd's and the dvd's we burn?

some professional dvd's have more than 120 minutes, why is the ones i burn , it says 120 minutes?

do professional dvds hold more gb's than 4.37?

seems to me the professional dvd's we buy with already movies on them have more gb's and can go over 120 minutes..

what are the difference?

Store bought ones are stamped with physical grooves; ours use dye to simulate the grooves. The store bought ones can be dual layer; holding almost twice as much data on one side as a burned DVD.

120 Minutes is a guideline; not set in stone. I often record more onto a DVD; depending on if quality is an issue.

Yes, Retail store Bought DVD"s can hold over 9GB and are dual Layered, and the Amount of Video you can get on a DVD"s is directly related to the bitrate used to encode the Video, I personally have gotten up to 6.5hours of Fairly good Quality Video on a Single DVD-R useing the SIF DVD Format......

At this Time there are No Dual Layerd DVD Burners but they are in developement and should be on the market within a Year but they will be Expensive at first and will not be compatible with present day burners...To Use The Sif DVD Format all you need is a DVD authoring Program that Supports it, The Quality if the Sif Format is Not as high as Standard DVD"s, the Quality is between VCD and SVCD so it helps if you are useing a Very High Quality source to Use this Format...The Format uses the Same Video Resolution as VCD (352+240/288-pal) and uses either Mpeg1/2 and uses a bitrate up to 1800kbs but you can go higher if you want, and the audio is the same as any DVD...Cheers

Well DVD-Lab is the One I usually use, But TMPGEnc DVD author does also and I think "Sonic DVD producer" does also but I think DVD-Lab is your Best bet and you should use Mpeg2 with the SIF Format but it also supports Mpeg1 but Mpeg2 has better Quality....Cheers
