What would happen if i updated my modchip with a modchip update for another type of modchip? so would it brick/burn, or anything bad? or will it jst give an error? Thank you!

Most likely it won't work. What Modchip do you have and what firmware do you want to try to use?

i'm not sure what modchip i have (and im planning to find out by opening my wii soon) so i want to try an update and i might find out that way, but i dont want to take any unnecessary risks

Well you first need to know what Modchip you have then go from there.

Take a picture of it if you can and we can help identify it if you can't figure it out yourself.
