I upgraded to 3.71 update 2. When all this was done I ran keychecker 1.4 to fix corrupt keys since I have had problem with corrupt keys in the past. It found something wrong with key 5 and it suggested to patch it. So I did it. However, I had several emulators on my psp that worked with no problem prior to the upgrade (previously on 3.52-4). Now when I try to open the emulators I get errors "8002014C" and "80020148." I put different emulators in the "GAME" folder the "GAME150" and "GAME303" folders on my memory stick. None of them work. I went into the recovery menu and tried changing the 3.71 kernel to 1.5 kernel, that didnt work. I also changed the UMD setting to No UMD mode : sony np9660 as was suggested in a forum. I thought that patching key 5 may have been what screwed things up, I went back to keycleaner 1.4 to see if I could undo what I had done. Now it says that "Key 5 is chilly willy patched. If you unpatch key 5 with a TA-082 psp (which I have) with custom firmware then the psp will brick. Unless you have a custom IPL to prevent this."

If 3.71 does not support emulators then I want to downgrade to 3.52. However, I do not want to brick my psp with the status of key 5 unknown.

Please note that when I first went to keycleaner 1.4 I dumped all the keys to my MS before I did anything to key 5. Not sure if that means the good key is still there. I see that a couple people have the same problem and downgrade to 1.5 and them back up to 3.52 update 4. But with key 5 screwed up I know there are issues with getting back to 1.5 if key 5 is not corrupt I don't know what to do. Please help!!

you can check by going to flash0 and then you can see if you have a KM folder.

Also, in case you need to know, to get into recovery; turn off your PSP fully, then turn it on again whilst holding the right shoulder button, or "R".

Well, i'm not too sure, it probably makes sense through a coding point of view...

Anyway, without the patch, both the 3.71 and 1.50 options will be the 3.71 kernel.

I think it's an altered version of 7... though don't quote me on that. I don't think Sony update the PSPs flash player, which they should, i want to watch youtube videos without having to use PSPTube!

No I haven't because I did not want to brick my psp since I may have done something to key 5 when I patched it with keycleaner 1.4.

i think , the 1.5 kernel support for slims, will come out soon, im sure they are working on it,,according to a blog

but im still wonderin, which homebrews require the 1.5 support. like when you go into a homebrew download site, there is no information on whether a particular homebrew requires the 1.5 support. how do i differentiate which 1 does and which 1 does not

cheers

Unlikely... the slim cannot read the 1.50 firmware's ipl. So it can't run the homebrew that requires 1.50 (or 1.00 for that matter) firmware support.
