i saw in this tutorial http://www.zshare.net/download/45829924e78175/ that i would need a PCI SATA card with VIA 6421 chipset to do this. now i have a fairly new computer so how do i find out what chipset i already have to see if mne will work in place of the one listed?

Well if you have a namebrand computer you more than likely have an intel ICH* chipset. You can find out by either downloading cpu-z or searching the net for your motherboard specs.
