I have a 360 with a hitachi 59 drive, i also have a samsung ms25 drive that i would like to put in with hacked firmware. If i do a drive spoof with the samsung do i then flash the samsung as a hitachi with the hacked firmware? what would be the easiest way to achieve this?

You have to flash the samsung with samsung f/w. You would probally mess up the drive flashing H f/w onto a sam. Spoofing is when you program a drive to report as another type of drive. Internally it is still run by the type of f/w specific to that drive.

Flash with samsung f/w and the key from the hitatchi hex edited into it and you'll be in business.

Some people spoof for various security / compatability reasons but i do not believe its necessary

how would i hex edit the key into it? i have no experience hex editing. also can a samsung spoofed as a hitachi be caught on xbox live if it is playing original games?

Nobody knows about the spoofing and search up on hex editing that's old hat around here
