Ok, I met up with a guy about 30 miles from me and he put in a wiikey last night (I tried and couldn't get mine working, so I unsoldered it and let him do it, guess I had a clone with 3.1U which doesn't work). He put in a real wiikey and updated it to 1.9g. I got home and played smg for 2-3 hours last night, was working fine. Its a D2A chipset
I unplugged the wii and left it where it was (disc in the wii). I turned it on this morning and the smg picture came up in the wii channels, clicked on it, heard mario, and then and it gave me that "an error has occured. Eject the disc..."
Now it only gives me an unable to read the disc message. The wiikey setup discs will not work either.
I've tried office depot dvd+rw, sonydvd-r, and maxell dvd-r(it was on a maxell the one time it worked). I've tried burning with 2 different burners and both nero and imgburn as well as going at 4X and 2X.
I've opened it up, his install looks very clean. I don't have a multimeter (but could get a christmas light, battery, and some wire to test for power/continuity:)
Using this lowtech light idea, any way to check that something didn't happen to the wiikey? Maybe my internet connection checked something with nintendo this morning and they disabled something?
If you need more information or pictures, please let me know. I'm scratching my head here.
Hm....sounds like it the media. The most successful media i highly recommend would be vertiburm (cant spell it correctoly :() and sony. Those are two good brands to use. By the way, what program do u use to burn those game? I highly recommend Imgburn because it works very well with wii games and best of all it free....Give it a try to see if it works....
I've tried using Sony 16X DVD-R's (Version 2.1 with accucore). They're silver with a puple bottom.
I'm using imgburn. All I did was the basic install of imgburn and when I burn, I've just unclicked the verify button.
I could go pick up some verbatims at some point, but I do already have a bunch of dvdrs (some unopened hp-dvdr's they're pink too that I could try if anyone has successfully used those)
Here is a pictures of the install if this helps anyone
ok I went out and bought a multimeter.
There are no bridges between the each of the solder points and the ic chip. The points show negligable resistance between the solder points and the legs on hte ic chip.
I'm getting 3.4V between the ground and power on the wiikey. (had it on AC earlier, showed 6.7.. oops)
i did update 1.9g , every thing working fine. One thing i don't know every time i try to put in the Smg back up to play after play metroid crime 3 corruption . the smg will ask to update again and it work ok again ,so it that normal? or we have to wait for the real ver. of 1.9g to fix that happen? or that it the bugs in 1.9g beta ver. ?
