Ripping DVDs playable on commercial DVD players.

I have conquered the task of backing up a DVD that I own and burning it to a DVD-R. Great. But it is not readable on the two Commercial DVD players I have.

Anyone know why?

Equipment and Software used:
Mac G4/OS 10.2
LaCie A05 external Burner
Ripped with DVDbackup
Compressed with DVD2oneX (if over 4.3G's)
Burned with Roxio Toast Titanium
Commercial DVD players:
Yamaha DV-C6660
Sanyo DWM-390

Another way to as-
"Does software exist (free or otherwise) for the Mac that Rips, Compresses and Burns DVD-R's that Commercial DVD players can read.
