alright... im trying to understand what i have to do to mod my wii. i know that i need to buy a modchip. im not sure which one to buy thought, but from looking at posts wiikey sucks and wiinja is more or less the way to go... after knowing this, i still dont know what to do now. people say something something about a d2c thing. i dont quite understand what this is or what i ahve to do about this. i would just like someone to please tell me step by step if you could on how to mod my wii correctly. thank you...

Follow the instructions above. If you have an old enough wii I would recommend a cyclowiz. If not the DC key thing is really good because of the way it works, however its a ***** ****** ******** to install.
Once you've made your decision based upon which console type you own google the chip, take a trip to the web site and read the install instructions.

The wiikey's ok....... but in the past people had to wait for a chip update they promised for like 8 months when they had orignally been promised about 2 weeks.
Also when mario galaxy came out recently cyclowiz had an update to play it in about 24 hours whereas wiikey took 3-4 days.
It doesn't suck.. but the support hasn't been there like it has been for the cyclowiz.

hardly a major issue the updates are they?
i mean it let u do what u really wanted the chip for and the latest update was available pretty quickly

end of the day as long as the chip works who cares if they have to wait a little for updates,

God forbid they took the weekend off! ;)

It should be mentioned that they (wiikey team) tried to explain the 8 months update thing, it was because of their old coder or something............ Who knows if there is any truth in that. At least they redeemed themselves with the last update.

But if you have a version that requires the D2C chip then you have no choice at the moment except to get that chip, if you have an older wii then I'd go with wiikey or cyclowiz.

Just wanted to ask my wii I typed the serial in and it came out as:

There is a 13% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2B
and a 87% chance that it is a GC2-DMS.

Your Drive Pins are most likely not cut.

Is my Chipset one of the older or newer ones the wii is from December 2006.
