I would like to know whats the major differences between these categories of PS3, i noticed that the prices differ for these categories up to 250$.

I'm not sure, but if you a have a nice hi def tv then the region doesn't matter because chances are the tv is region free and the ps3 is region free for ps3 games.

Then why the big gap in their prices, and why most people here are looking for the NTSC U/C although I am in a PAL region.

most of people are looking for the ntsc 60gb model for the backward compatiblity for ps2 and ps1 as it uses hardware not software emulation unlike all the pal models and the new ntsc models(40, 80Gb)
