the only difference between both chips that I know
is
Pro : 4 bios bank ( dont know if is loaded with the linux bios, if theres no bios in the chip you have to uploadit to the chip from the PC )
Lite : 2 bios banks and loaded with linux cromwell ( wich helps you to load your new bios while chip is installed )
both are 1mb
each bios is 256kb in size
meaning you can store a different bios on each bank

pro is for the people who always wanna try new released bios wich you can do on Lite too
but with some limitations

If you just wanna play your backups and have some cool stuff in your xbox
you can have it with pro or lite
just go with the newer version of the chip you want

2.2 or 2.3 if already released

In order for it to work on my new xbox do I have to flash the bios? Or does in come pre-flashed and ready to go?

X-cuter lite are flashed with linux cromwell
wich give you 2 options
1) install linux from there
or
2) helps you to reflash the bios with a hacked one (wich you'll need to play backups,to use Evox, emulators, etc etc)

a modchip without any bios will not work
I guess chameleon and X-cuter Lite are the only ones that come with the Linux cromwell bios

theres no way you can get a chip already flashed with a hacked bios and ready to go from any retailer/website
that could give them some legal troubles

the flashing thing is something the user have to do
but is easy
and here you'll find a lotof good people
trying to help on any question

Okay I'm going to buy the xecuter lite. Now, how do I flash the bios. Does it come with the bios I need or do I have to download it? Do I need any other tools? Exactly how do you flush the bios?

ok

1) get the chip you want ( get one that comes flashed with linux cromwell Xcuter or chameleon will do good)

2) install it on yor xbox ( choose solderless if you want to install it the easy way but remember theres still one wire to solder anyways)

3) if the chip of your choice came with linux cromwell and you already installed it
from the net,IRC,nrwsgroups, google download the hacked bios you'll flash to your new chip
so you can play backups and do some cool stuff
ie: X2_4977.bin or X2_4978.bin or X2_4979.bin (if already released) or any evox bios wich I dont know their names :-D

you'll need only one bios

after getting your bios on the pc
a 256kb in size bios

burn it to a CD-RW
make sure its a CD-RW media your xbox recognize
but since 256kb is just very small file that XBOX will not read
burn it with a dummy file
and I guess you'll need to make that 256kb bios
into one 512kb in size (at least 512 if your are going to use Xcuter Lite) someone correct me if im wrong there

dummy file : just make a zip file and put inside whatever files you want making its size lets say 100 mb
if you have a tomson drive I recommend you a bigger file about 400mb or 500mb
tomsons are picky

name that zip file something like

00dummy.zip
you have now 2 files wich you'll burn to the CD-RW

00dummy.zip
and the bios of your choice
be sure before burning to rename your bios like this
bios.bin
(also something I did and worked for me)
I did rename the 00dummy.zip to 00dummy.bin

burn'em
then insert the CD to your XBOX
sometimes xbox wont read it at the first try

but It will read it

tools:
CD burner
CD-RW media your xbox recognized before the chip install
bios.bin and 00dummy file
and patient because thats the beggining

;)
thats just to play backups
you'll need other tools to make some cool stuff to your xbox
but hey
its easy if everyone helps each other

later
questions?

Great Thanx! I downloaded something called Slayer's auto installer evox 2.5

http://www.xbins.org/nfo.php?file=xboxnfo600.nfo
This seems to have all the software I need. and it seems everything is automatic including flashing the bios. What do you think should I use that to install?

sounds good man

Ability to flash an X2, Chameleon, Akira or any other 1MB Cromwell based MOD chip
with X2 4977 *FC* +137G just by inserting this v2.5 installer disk.

It seem like it will work
just the CD by itself ;)
