Hey guys,
This is only my second time posting but ive been reading the site now for a couple weeks now trying to get info on burning dvd's. I just got a new HP and it has roxio on it, what other programs or freeware will i need to back up dvd's? is Roxio worth it?. My first post was on my laptop i have CopyDVD2 and freeware48, ive only been able to burn one dvd only. What do you guys recommend for programs and freeware that i should put on the new computer to start fresh? Thanks

If u do a search here at AD (on Vista and backing up probs/burning probs), u will find that Vista may be your biggest hinderance to backing up your dvd library. Xp was always friendly to backing up programs.

Good dvd backing up programs (freeware)

1) dvdfabhddecrypter
2) ripit4me
3) dvd shrink
4) fixvts
5) menushrink
6) vob blanker
7) imgburn

Hello flynfocus

Vista works fine. I've been using it for nearly a year without any problems. I probably wouldn't use Roxio myself. I have it but never use it for burning. I prefer ImgBurn to all others. See these guides for backing up with various software.

iluvendo's list of freeware software is very good. Some like the convenience of AnyDVD running in the background to decrypt and overcome protection. It's commercial though and costs $.

http://www.slysoft.com (anydvd free trial available)

For a 1-click commercial solution, the combo of AnyDVD and CloneDVD from Slysoft is hard to beat.
