Due to the blue line in the screen, I'm returning my PSP to best buy.
But how do I get it back to sony firmware? (so they'll take it back)
I'm on 3.10 oe-a, but when I put the sony firmware (3.30) into the 'UPDATE' folder as 'EBOOT.PBP', then run the update from the game menu, it starts up then an error message says: "The game could not be started. (DADADADA)"
I tried 3.50 firmware too, same error.
I don't want to upgrade higher than 3.50 in case (for whatever reason) I can't return the psp so I can go to custom firmware again via. lumines.
Someone please help? I can't find a single thread about this issue.
I was going to return it tonight, so a quick answer would be nice!
PSP History: 2.71 > 3.30 > 3.50 > 1.50 > 3.30 oe-a > 3.71 m33-2 > 1.50 > 3.52 m33-4 > 3.71 m33-2 > 1.50 > 3.10 oe-a > 1.50 AND IT WON'T UPGRADE TO 2.0!

My bad i just that u were still on 3.10oe-a
If ur on 1.5
u cant go straight to a 2.50 and higher from 1.5
u first have to go to 2.0 then go to 3.50
and if ur on 3.10 now then put the update on the GAME150..i guess

I'm following that guide but it doesn't work.
I'm stuck on step 5. "Go to the recovery menu on your psp by turning off your psp. Then hold the R trigger and thus turn on your psp and you will be at the recovery menu. It should look like a purple screen."
a) when I turn off the psp THEN hold R, it stays off
b) when I turn off the psp WHILE holding R, it stays off
c) when I turn off the psp THEN hold R THEN turn it on, it just turns on without going to the recovery menu.
help!!

you have to press the R button while you turn ON, so just turn off (not sleep) and press R then turn it on always with the R pressed!

that's what I'm doing.
and as I said before, it just loads the psp as usual and nothing special happens.
Can I downgrade/upgrade to another firmware to do this another way?
It would be really great if this actually worked.
EDIT: never mind, took a dozen or so tries but I got it to work

OK WAIT.
I got it to 1.50...great!
But when I go to update via. putting the 2.00 eboot in the 'UPDATE' folder as 'EBOOT.PBP', another error comes up saying: "The system cannot be updated. The update data is not applicable for this system."
The update I used is the US version and it's a US psp...

I tried that, except there's no wireless internet in my house. It's all cable. Plus the neighbors have their internet turned off so I can't even leech it.
I need to find another 2.0 firmware file...

That's the one I used before.
I'll go try some of my games and see how that works.
EDIT: No luck again. The same error message.
I am so screwed!!!!!!!!!
Maybe I'll try the japanese firmware for kicks...
Nope didn't work.
Will I be able to return my PSP as a 1.50 firmware and still get my money back??? or will they know I've been messing around with it??
This psp is determined to drive me insane!

how old is the psp? do you have a warranty plan with bestbuy?
if you even return it for another one, you will most likely get a psp slim. the originals are discontinued now.
ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure
got a whole lot more to list . . .

I'm dying to hear what happens next, this is like one of those soap operas, but instead it's happening in real life and you're helping the person solve his/her problem. lol
Please do tell us what happens next in your "exciting virtue".
EDIT** oh.. looks like you tried to return it, but why couldn't they take it? What exactly happened
Winning isn't everything...
IT'S THE ONLY THING !
