Hey guys I'm pretty sure the answer to this question is no but i wanted to make sure. Is it possible to check the drive of the xbox 360 in the shop, without having to open the drive? ie Is it written on the box somewhere detailing what components it has?

Also a second question, again, can you see on the box if it has hdmi? I'm looking to buy a pro console in australia.

Thanks heaps in advance guys. Cheers

Well not quite :P Wish we could edit posts.

There is a sticker on the outside of the box that will list the lot number and team. Use the database I posted above to find combinations that have the features and drive you want.

The general rule of thumb though is that anything over lot 734 is a falcon (which means it has HDMI since this is the iteration after Zephyr which first included it). I have a 737 from team FDOU and it's a falcon with a BenQ drive.

Hopefully the stores you call will be cooperative in telling you the lot no.'s they have on the shelf so you can figure it out before you go in. Otherwise look for 734+ and team FDOU.

Thanks mate I appreciate the help. A group of my friends are getting 360s at the same time becuase we are getting a discount, just wanted to make sure we got what we wanted.

As a general rule what would be the best drive to get? Do any of them have greater reliability or success rates with backup discs than the others?

I'd say the BenQ as well. Very easy to flash and they're quiet.
