Now my 360 is over a year old im looking at SOFT MODDING it, but id like some things clearing up first........
1. when my console is soft modded, Will "backup" games of the right type just boot up like normal original discs, or is there a disc swap or similar to do first..........?
2. does the reading of backups make the laser wear out faster than normal
3. what exactly does SOFTMODDING entail. is it a chip or as i have read a RE-FLASH of existing hardware. and will i need some other bits adding to the console.
4. what is the most popular softmod that will allow the playing of the most backups. or is it a universal thing.
1. Backups (if made correctly) will boot up just like an Original!
2. I've heard rumors of that, but I'm not totally sure on that!
3. Softmodding is a Flashing Method. When a chip is installed that is known as a Hardmod. For the sofmod, you just need to take apart your 360 and connect the DVD Drive to a PC, and Flash the Firmware with a Hacked Firmware!
4. The most popular (or the only one I know of) is the iXtreme Firmwares made by C4eva!
Mine has the iXtreme Firmware, and you can play on Live just fine! It's when you put a backup in the system, that there is a risk of getting Banned! C4eva's Firmware has made it so that M$ can't detect the Hacked Firmware! Make sure that when you create backups, that you add the Security Sectors (SS.bin) to the Disc!
sorry to be such a lamen, but what do you mean by putting a backup in the system, if i had a backup of, say test drive unlimited and wanted to race another player online, would my softmod get seen then.........or say when i connect to xboxlive ot doanload games. will i get seen then???? sorry for such questions but im used to the old gen consoles and not these new fangled machines lol, thanks again
You just need to add the Security Sectors (SS.bin) to the game, and if you have the iXtreme Firmware, you should be fine! As of now, no one has been banned while using the iXtreme Firmware!
So just make sure you add the SS.bin files to the .iso before you burn it!
