I just rented a game and I got a message as soon as I turned my system on saying that I must download an update to play this game (project gotham 4). Anyways, are these updates safe, or will it mess up my flashed 360?

i also would like to know this as i just brought the 360 core and plan on flashing it. would updating via live affect the flashed console?

no it would not affect the flash xbox 360.. espiceally the new games always require an update but they are totally safe.
