Ok so I modded my PSP to get custom firmware in june this year and there were no problems whatsoever..

Everything was fine until today..

So i didn't have my memory stick inside my PSP and i started playing GTA LC without the memory stick and it worked fine..But when I got my memory stick back and inserted it into my PSP..i got the blue screen of death and it appeared to have bricked..

wtf? is that supposed to happen?

That is strange, does not sound like that should happen...

-What happens when you press the O button on the BSOD? does it reboot to normal or just shut down, or does it just return to the BSOD again?

-You said you are running custom firmware? If so, which version?

-Are you able to get into recovery mode? Do you know what recovery mode is?

You may just have to format your flash1 folder..But in order to do that you need to get into recovery mode...I will await your reply so I can walk you through it...

yes recovery mode works..and i believe my firmware is like 3.40a or something..not sure

thanks if you could guide me through..i'd rather not explore the recovery mode too much myself so i don't screw it up further

What happens when the BSOD comes up, and you press O? Does it:
-Reboot to the XMB?
-Return to the BSOD?
-Black screen?

Maybe you put the memory stick in when it was trying to write data to it...Try taking the memory stick out first, then reboot your psp before you do anything else...

If that doesnt work use the directions below to get into recovery mode.

If you can get into recovery mode, then open it up-
-Make sure your psp is hooked up to the computer via USB
-Scroll to 'Advanced' and select that
-Scroll to 'toggle USB (flash1) and select it
-A Window will pop up on your computer
-Select the 'config.se' file and delete it
-From there you can go ahead and exit out of recovery
-your psp should reboot to the BSOD-press O and it will boot to the menu..

A new one will automatically be created by the custom fw itself. Alternatively, you can do this by going to recovery and selecting "Format Flash 1 and all settings". But you don't need to worry.

Then you're good to go, right? The way you're talking, it sounds like you think you're still screwed...

Two options at this point:

1.) Go to recovery and drop in a fresh dump of your fw. HOWEVER - make sure you DO NOT delete the recovery.prx. Copy and paste to desktop, keeping it safe so you can drop it back in when you reinstall manually. I do this all the time, dw.

2.) Take out the memstick before you go back to vsh. (xmb) If your memstick is formatted wrong, it will stop the psp from starting up, believe it or not.

Download the Recovery folder then place the RECOVERY folder into the game folder(toggle USB in the Recovery mode) then in Recovery mode, choose Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP.

Now, check that the Recovery folder is in the following.

RECOVERY/EBOOT.

Make sure it's not RECOVERY/RECOVERY/EBOOT. You will know if you have double RECOVERY folders because the Run program at /PSP... won't work.
