i was planning on modding my fat ps2 with the independence mod.from what i read you need the custom made disc too be able to run the exploit.i was just wondering if there was a way to run the code without the cd being in there everytime?

you don't use a burned disc, you use and original PS1 game. you will have to use that specific PS1 game everytime you want to use the exploit.

reason for using the PS1 game is because the original fat ps2 had a buffer overflow when a PS1 game was booting. with the memory card exploit, it would boot to whatever was stored onto the memory card system file, instead of the PS1 game.

hi,i have another question.i guess my goal is too have a ps2 "fat" system,to load my backed up ps2 games off the ps2 hard drive.thats all i mainly want it for.so instead of making the ps1 exploit,and running it like that,could i install a modchip,then boot directly too the free hdloader version from the hd?i seen a ps2 modchip called modbo-4 but iam unsure if its possible to boot like that.i know the exploit can do it,but i dont know if the modchip can direct it too the correct file.

so i guess iam just asking what modchip do i need that can handle booting directly too hdloader off the hard drive,when i want it too?(cheapest if possible)also any good websites that sell ps2 modchips.thanks

if you're gonna go with the modchip route and skip the laser, go with the one of the top three modchips. they are able to boot the hdloader elf right away.

-crystal chip 2.0

those three modchips are highly recommended by other users. they are capable of storing elf files on the modchip memory.
