Problems with 40GB PS3?

Has anyone had problem witht their 40G PS3? I just picked one up for $340 and am debating if its worth having or upgrading to the 80GB. I already have a PS2 so BC is not an issue. I was just wondering if anyone had any big hardware issues.

If you're posting this because of the reported 40% failure rate then don't worry. That article was not true. Also, I don't recommend getting the 80GB if you don't care about BC (you can upgrade the hard drive yourself and save money). Also the 40GB is better hardware wise with better wifi and it is more power efficient and less noisy than the other models.

Yea what worried me was the replies that the article got from a guy named Calo. Im assuming its the same Calo from psp-hacks and his OP I assume is trusteowrthy. I saw that article too and am aware of the better hardware in the 40gb. I am just hoping that I dont get a disc error. My first game with probably be Assassin Creed so i will just play the hell out of it. If I get the error I guess I can return it.

I have had a 40GB PS3 since mid December and so far no problems, although it took me a while to workout how to connect the Bluetooth headset from Warhawk, but thats sorted now. :D

It happened with me twice my assasins creed game it hangs there the onl thing what I can do is just change the camera angle. 40 gb ps3 sucks is what I think

if youre gonna upgrade, upgrade to 60gb not 80gb, the storage may be more, but the 60gb turns out to be better for different reasons, one of which i know is that it runs ps2 games on hardware and 80gb runs on emulation.

Wow. Same thing happened to me a few times with Assassin's Creed and a few other games. (on the 40gb ps3)

i have a 40 GB and have had no problems at all. I think for some people who are experiencing freezing during the game (eg, assassin's creed), they need to make sure they obtain the latest update for the game by ensuring that their console is connected to a wireless network. This has solved some people's problems...

I have the latest updates installed and my game still freezes. It has happened three times during Need For Speed Pro Street. REALLY annoying especially if you haven't had a chance to save.

There's nothing wrong with the 40gig, this thread was created a long time ago in response to rumors that it had a 40% fail rate (more than likely started up by Xbox fan-boys) which were proven complete false. No need to worry, suppose this was one circumstance where the search function wasn't such a good thing ^.^'
Oh and that coupon was probably bogus, if not it was more than likely given to one person because of some customer service claim.
