DAMN! Is psp bricked??

I was trying to install a xmb theme.

Well i copied some of the files on the memory, and then i forgot to do the rest and took the usb out, then when the psp opened, it was all messed up, like new theme mixed with the orignal. So i had a backup of the orignal files, so i went and deleted all the files in the resource and copied the backup files again.

Now when i start the psp, it shows me the background, and its gets stuck?

Then i think it automatically turns off.

I can still access the recovery mode, by holding R, anything i can do from there to fix this?

UPDATE:

Some people on the other forum have told me that YES, IT IS BRICKED :(

They told me to use PANDORA or CEMENTARIO 3 to UNBRICK it.

I am new to this, and i dont know what those 2 mean or how they will work, so i require some help.

Also, my FIRMWARE is: 3.71 M33-2

Also, i got a spare memory stick (1gb) if that can help somehow...

Can you please help me out on how to recover my psp, can you explain in detail as i am new to this?

IT IS A NORMAL PSP, NOT SLIM ONE.

Thanks alot!

Your okay, all you have is a semi-brick if you can get into recovery mode. Once you do this, you should just stick to PTF themes because you don't have to toggle around with the flash0. Plus, you can store as mucr themes as your memory stick can handle.

Same thing happened to me two days ago. I used a program called XMB Colorer to generate some wave themes and I placed the generated file in resource in Flash 0. I ended up having some themes where it was half the original and half the new one. Because it didn't work I replaced the resource folder with the one from my Flash backup and when I turned on the PSP the Sony logo would show up then freeze. Luckily I was able to access the Recovery mode, I found the recovery files needed to downgrade back to 1.50 for 3.71 M33 and I downgraded to 1.50. From there I upgraded to 3.52 M33 then 3.52 M33-4 then back up to 3.71 M33. It's a long process but I had a Pandora's battery just in caseit didn't work. But I didn't have the Magic Memory Stick files.

My PSP Firmware History: 2.60 had to return the PSP because it had a dead pixel > new PSP had firmware 2.71 > 1.5 > 3.52 M33 > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33 > 3.71 M33 with 1.50 kernel

Wait I don't understand. Why doesn't the Pandora's battery work on 3.71 M33-2 and will it work on 3.71 M33-3?

First of all, Thanks for all the replies.

Well here we have different answers and i am not sure which method to follow to get my psp working again..

So can someone please tell me an easy method of fixing this psp? As i dont really know that much.

Also i am not sure what a Pandora battery is or what it does.

So these are the replies:

Can someone tell me the first reply will solve my problem or not?

&

For the second reply, can someone point me to a guide and files i need in order to downgrade from the recovery menu.

For the first reply, it's not the flash1 that needs reformatting.

1.) If your psp freezes at the vsh (xmb) it's an RCO file.

2.) If your psp freezes at the INTRO (coldboot) it's an important .prx file.

I would try verifying the contents of your f0:/vsh/resource folder against a VIRGIN dump. Obviously, you can still get to f0 b/c you have only HALF bricked. So you're good to go.

Don't worry about the rest. It's just a simple RCO file; you just need to find out which one. (This has happened to me so many times, I know it'll be the answer for you as well.)

If someone can upload the orignal RCO files for 3.71M33-2 firmware, then i can replace them with my current ones and it might work?

Yea, it will work. Lemme see if I can upload mine. However, when you get it, make sure you KEEP YOUR RECOVERY.PRX. DO NOT ERASE IT. Gimme a while.

Actually, I don't think it would be a good idea for me to upload my files since I'm using a slim. And you don't necessarily need to downgrade to v1.50 again. You can just reinstall your cfw right over itself. If you can't figure that out, just use these deflated 3.71 RCOs. Deflated work the EXACT same as compressed, but you'd have to go thru a whole lot more to get compressed RCOs. These are just easy to modify; that's why we hackers like them deflated.

Enjoy!

I see you still haven't complied with getting your sig to meet the forums rules:

4. If you want to use both text and image in your signature the image should not be more than 500 pixels wide and 100 pixels tall, and you can use up to three lines of text

During your break please take care of it.
