Hello peoples! Boy I sure am glad to have joined this forum where everyone is so helpful and friendly ;) Anyways I have a slight prob with my PS2.I have Darkwatch (backup)on an Iomega (white)disc which I played about twice.I think I reached the 2nd stage or something :(
Anyhow my PS2 is now displaying 'Unable to read Disc'.I created an image with Nero and burned to a Ridata disc using the same Nero program, but same damned problem!?
Should I rebuild the image then burn? P.S. all my other games work perfectly well.Thanx!
I think is better you rebuild the image, and try TDK media, with me never failed (cents of them).
Try not to burn with dvd+r, as most of ps2 dont want to read it, use dvd-r.
Ridata is a good brand, but for movies.
Don´t burn the game with speed over 4X.
Check out if the laser lens are dirty (a little alcohol with a toilet paper or so... will do the job.
Thanks for responding masesaco. Unfortunately I have to burn the image on a DVD+R because my burner cannot write to DVD-R discs, but reads them..why I really don't know? My burner is a Liteon DVD-RW SOHW 1633S model and it has DVD+/-R/ and +/-RW Drive as well as DVD+R Double Layer written all over it. For some reason it has also stopped reading and writing to all my cds as well.Tried upgrading the firmware too, but no use :(
Anyway enough about that, so I suppose I could use Hursty guide to rebuild? ANOTHER REBUILD GUIDE FOR PS2
If you updated the firmware , and got no results, perhaps the time for replace your cd/dvd drive has come.
And as I´m seeimg your ps2 is one that doesn´t like dvd+r.
Mine accepts around 2 or 3 among 10 dvd+r, but with dvd-r, I burn dozens without any problems.
They aren´t that expensive, and you solve your problem once and for all.
To rebuild the image, I think the better way is with Alcohol 120%, I tried many already and this one was the best for me.
What the...hey you wouldn't believe this but I just burnt a PS2 image on to a DVD-R sucessfully with not Nero but DVD Decrypter and it works perfect!!?! But it still won't play or burn CDs. Hmmmn, something sure is fishy here...I'm thinking some sort of configuration problem, just can't figure it out :(
Yes..but unfortunately when I'm ready to burn (with Nero)the tray opens up and rejects the CD blank(all types) and reads "please insert cd-r/rw media". With DVD Decrypter it says "no media present" in the drive. I think that the drive is malfunctioning, but I still think its funny that it burns blank DVD dics flawlessly!??
I think it´s drive´s malfunction, as it doesn´t recognize the cd.
Like i said before, perhaps you should get a new one (that´s not expensive), or take it to a technician, but i don´t think it pays the trouble, because you´ll pay almost the same to repair it as you should pay to buy a new one.
