Can anyone tell me if doing certain things on the psp use up more battery than others? for example, does watching movies/playing game demos use as much battery as playing a UMD game?

In your example, UMD's will kill battery faster, as the laser and UMD spinning motor are both working. Having screen brightness on the max will drain faster, as will having the WIFI switch on, even when you aren't on the internet.
