I have a hard drive along with the network adapter for the PS2 Fat.
I have been looking, i install games on my hd using winhllp, load it onto the ps2, burn a copy of hdloader image onto a cd. I try loading it inside the ps2 along with the hd. But the ps2 say please insert ps2 disc.
Is there anyway for me to play these games that I acquired by not buying these software such as swapmagic or a press disc?

you have to do the memory card exploit and get hdloader 0.8b. your copied hdloader won't work unless you have a modchip.

the exploit has been working fine for me for the past 10 months. only had to buy ARMAX. bought a separate card for just in case.

if you don't have any friends for cousins that have a cheating device with usb support, then you'll have to get one. there's no way to transfer the exploit file to the memory card without one. ftp'ing is not possible because your system is not exploited.
oh yeah, the memory card exploit must be used with an original ps1 disc. does not work with ps2 games.

ok, so im not getting actionreplay, the method seem too complicated.
So basically, i want to run games from my hard drive connected to the network adapter.
What is the best method?
Swap magic? if so, can you point me to a guide please.

the ARMAX method is actually easy. it's just remaking a system configuration file for the memory card. exploitstation.com has guides that are easy to follow.
the way i rate the ways to play ps2 games off the hdd are:
-memory card exploit (fats only)
-one of three modchips (matrix infinity green dot, dms4, crystal chip 2.0)
-hdloader retail disc
-ARMAX with media player and hdloader elf
-swapmagic with burned hdloader disc

the method with the action replay...... i basically need the real disc, boot it and then use memory card to boot hdloader with hard drive ?

the ARMAX method doesn't need the hdloader retail disc; it needs a hdloader elf. you can find those in the ps2 hdd section at sksapps.com
but you will need the ARMAX retail disc.
you cannot play games off the hdd without doing anything. it doesn't work like that. you will have to spend the money, unless you're fortunate to know someone with the stuff you need.

ok thanks for much for answering all my questions.
I been reading, but little confusing with too much information.
So basically, i'm getting the action replay max tomorrow, already have network adapter hook up to hard drive.
I do the exploit thing with the memory card and put hdloader on there using AR.
After that, I just install games onto hard drive using winhllp.
So it should just load after that right?

that's all you have to do. follow the guides at exploitstation.com and you'll have no problems.
