I get the same write error every time I try and write to a DVD. This is the log that I get every time. I am using DVD decrypter and DVD shrink and then writing to the DVD with nero. Any help would be appreciated. Also I am trying to burn DL discs. Thanks.

hi

things i would do, as not to sure but i can see a few problems...

the below file software needs to be removed for better usage, Nero INCD...

uninstall nero get nero clean tool from there website and use it then install nero again (WITHOUT INCD !!!)

----------------

the below file can be one of 2 things i think a SCSI adapter card or a VIRUS!

adpu160m.sys file information
The process Adaptec Ultra160 SCSI miniport belongs to the software Microsoft® Windows® Operating System by Microsoft Corporation (www.microsoft.com).

Description: adpu160m.sys is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers. The file size on Windows XP is 101888 bytes.
The driver can be started or stopped from Services in the Control Panel or by other programs. It is a Windows core system file. The program is not visible. It is a trustworthy file from Microsoft. The service has no detailed description. Therefore the technical security rating is 0% dangerous.

Important: Some malware camouflage themselves as adpu160m.sys, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder.

im also reading that Verbatim DVD+R DL's give the best results, not sure on your CMC MAG DL's ?
Quote:
Disc Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG, Media Type ID: D01, Product revision number: 0

also note sure on dual layers as i dont use them but your project is very close to outer edge of the dvdrDL maybe making the output size smaller but as said not sure here... maybe fine...

Ok I reinstalled nero after using their clean tool. I didn't install incd or anything else just nero 6.6.0.16 and it still didn't work. I wasn't sure what to do with the ADPU160M.SYS file. Should I delete it? I use AVG and scan daily and It hasn't found any thing suspect. I guess I will try and use a verbatim disc. Thanks for your help so far. any more is appreciated

Might want to try ImgBurn for burning DL, at least it is worth a shot. Maybe also see if there is a firmware update for that drive, how old is it & have you checked that it supports DL burning?

I tried Veratim DL disc and Nero told me that it wasn't an acceptable disc. It told me that it was an acceptable but then It wouldn't accept it. So then I tried a verbatim single layer disk and it didn't work. here is the most recent log. I am trying with impburn now and will let you know how it works. The computer is new last month. And it is supposed to be a DL drive.

To burn an ISO image with ImgBurn, you use Write Mode. If you wish to burn Video Files you use Build Mode. The blank disc in that last ImgBurn log is a single layer, Verbatim Dvd+R, so you would also look at setting the booktype for Dvd+R Media to Dvd-Rom (the little book in the bottom right hand corner), for more compatibility with standalones. You would click the Samsung box after clicking the little book. The only reason I am not asking about the ISO is that it looks like it was created through Dvd Shrink & therefore should be good. It looks like 8X media, so I would try burning it @4X first & then if that works out, give an 8X burn a shot. Also check for a firmware update through ImgBurn before doing anything else. ImgBurn / Tools / Drive / Check for Firmware Updates.

Just thought I would answer one of the questions asked. Default setting in Dvd Shrink is 4464, & this is taken from an ImgBurn log after it had passed through Dvd Shrink, before burning to a Dvd+R blank.

Source File Size: 4,681,416,704 bytes

You get various sizes, but they are normally around the same 4.35GBs.

System: Microsoft Windows Xp Pro 2002 SP3 / Windows XP Pro X64 Edition. Computer: AMD Athlon(tm) 64x2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.51 GHz. 4.00 GB of RAM.

Have you ever burned a DVD or a CD? New??? Who put it together? It's not an ImgBurn problem. Something else is up if it won't accept Verbatim discs.

I am going to modify that last post by saying that I was able to burn ten pictures on there and then it got to a quicktime file, I think, and stopped burning. I am going to try an audio CD.

Well the InfoTool print out looks fine. It does seem that your burner though has caused problems for many.

Just an update, after spending hours on the phone with Dell, telling them the drive didn't work with any software, reinstalling windows, downloading all the drivers and programs that I lost with the reinstall, I convinced them to send me a new drive. they sent me a HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-t21N
and guess what? It works. Now to see if I can get them to reimburse me for the fifty bucks worth of DVDs that I used figuring it out.
Thanks for all your help.
