Im thinking of buying a HDTV. I found a Philips 42" and it has these specs:

Resolution 1024 x 768. Contrast ratio 15000:1. 7-day EPG. 1000 page Hypertext. 3D Combfilter. 2 SCART sockets. 2 HDMI sockets. Brightness 1500cdm. Pixel Plus HD. H 30, w 41, d 10ins

I was just wondering if this would be any good with a PS3, and is it 1080p HD? thanks.

Oh and also, what is better, 1080i or 1080p?

im not expert with tv but i have been through the buying process for an hdtv ...

so this is my conclusion
- don't buy the tv
- it is not 1080p... prob 720p
- the res seems to be coming from a plasma screen
- unless its under 500 bucks... you're prob better off looking for a better lcd or something

i dont know how intense things are on your monitor... but obviously you need 1080p source to notice the real difference. if you're just watching 700mb divx movies or something.. then obviously a 1080p monitor would not really make a difference--> can even make it look worse (again depending on the source). just something to keep in mind.. unless you are running 1080p bluray/hdtv movies and some reason still cant see the diff

ERMM obviously i watch blu ray hd movies games etc.....
You notice a difference if you sit around 4 feet from the tv with a 42" so do you think its worth paying £300 more 1080p.

To say that there is no difference between 1080p and 1080i is nonsense. It's simple math. BUT, to say that the difference can be negligible, that's a different story. If you have a 32-42 inch TV, the difference probably doesn't justify the 500-600 USD price difference. If you're going big with your TV, say 55 inch +, then yeah, I would probably only want 1080p.

The 32 inch 1080i TV in my room is more than adequate. I know 1080p is superior to my TV but I don't notice the difference.

The TV is £699 here in the UK, so that is why im a bit unsure about the image quality.
