Well i decided to format my pc as i had it running for about 4 years and was finally taking a while to open folders etc..

so i format with a Windows Home Edition disc, got everything back on etc. But now my pc will not connect to my router, and i phoned my router company,(linksys) after a 44 minute phone call, we established my router was working fine as my xbox live was connecting and the computer up the stairs is connecting fine. So i done a little investigating, I opened my network connections and only have one connection, 1394 connection. i used to have LAN which was what i used to connect to my router. Now i have no LAN connection there whatsoever. I think i need to somehow get it back but i have no idea where to even start, so i beg for you people's help :)

a few specs.

I have an E-Machines pc. no idea of model.

Microsoft windows xp home

512 RAM

64 mb grapihcs

2.93 ghrtz

any other info you guys need just ask.

It sounds like your ethernet card isn't installed or isn't working properly. So you'll just need to find the driver and install it.

Are there any warnings or errors if you go to the device manager?

Is your ethernet card listed. If so does it say it is working properly.

You need to know the name of your ethernet card. Usually you can search by the name the computer picks up for it in the device manager. Computer manufacturers generally supply the drivers or links to the drivers. If they don't they should be able to tell you what ethernet card you have.

A drivers disk should of been included with the system but if that is not available u'll need to find the model number of ur system which is probably right in front of ur face... then dl the drivers from emachines support page
