hi just wondering if anyone can shed some light on something for me, just downloaded pal pga 08, and when clicking on the rar archive it gives me an error message saying the file is not a proper rar archive? fucked up download? came from weemediadownloads.com :S

not getting any burn options when i right click it, am using winzip to open, once i double click tells me its not valid rar archive, and that something may be damaged or removed?

what are you using to burn them? If it says something like "file is corrupt or damaged" or something then burn it with image burn because that's the iso. And if you can't then see if you can browse the file with an iso. reading program like magic iso, etc. When you try and browse it if it says "no image file found" then just "backup" another pga 08.

he's saying his .RAR file is corrupted, not the ISO.
Re-download the file again, but to a different hard drive.
It is possible that either they are hosting a corrupted file or your hard drive has bad sectors and is causing the corruption.

no i know what hes saying, i have the same thing on certain games, it has the icon of a rar., and when you go into properties it even says winRAR file, but when i burn it using image burn it works.

if that's the case, it "sounds" like extensions for known file types are hidden...
If that's the case, (win2k\winxp)
Go into My Computer, go to Tools, Folder Options.
Go to the View tab.
the last item showed without scrolling says-
Hide extensions for known file types...
Uncheck it, hit Apply then OK.
If you are referring to a file that has NO file extension, yet WinRaR is still associated with it, I would like to know the name of it because that "should" be impossible unless it was manually setup that way by the user of the computer.

hi thanks for responses, to my knowledge i created and saved the torrent (left overnight to download with utorrent) located the folder this morning, the game is there with winzip icon, extension ends in .rar, as before mentioned clicking it will not load the archive, when i right click it i don't get any burn options - for the guy who said that.. plus i haven't made an image yet etc etc, the file extensions were not hidden also. i think im going to have to just re download damn my slow internet :(

Well, i'm no tryin to wrong anyone, but tryin to educate those who may not know so if a problem arises, they know why instead of blaming it on software.
I personally use Alcohol 120% and if i have a disc image that is not supported by it, then it get's converted to an image that IS compatible.
Not everybody in this world creates an image exactly as the next person and not everyone packages them the same either.
I've seen LOT's of images and LOT's of compression extensions and basically, all you need is Winrar and a burning program to put it simply but if ou get an error like richie15 is stating, it's nice to know what's goin on.
Below are the following compression extensions that I know personally will work with Winrar-(some cd images below may or may not open in winrar based on how they are made. To determine what extension your file(s) are in, read above)
.rar
.r00, .r01, etc...
.zip
.gz
.001, .002, etc...(this only works if the extension is ONLY the numbers previously states such as test.001, test.002... this does NOT work with test.mpg.001, test.mpg.002, etc... You would need a merging program used to create that compilation into 1 large main extension and for that example, mpg was the extension)
.tar
.cab
.arj
.lzh
.ace
.7z
.uue
.bz2
.jar
.z
.iso
.img (rarely)
.nrg (rarely)
.exe (used for a setup program to install software)

hey, i noticed that you said it was torrent related.
Reopen the torrent and ensure 100% completion. If it detects any corruption, let it fix it.
IF it's still claiming 100% complete, let it re-download to a different drive.
You must remember, torrents are shared among other users, they are not necessarily verified by any means other than... it's there to get.
It is quite possible that someone is sharing a corrupted file and doesn't even know it!

just opened up utorrent, and clicked the completed tab, it is showing that the download has a red cross next to it, and status cant open file, (guess i should have checked her first durrr). i guess it must be a corrupt file circulating around, weird tho that there was no comments to suggest so and alot of seeding/downloading :S
