I bought a Japanese Super Mario Galaxy and I have a US Wii. I have the WiiKey installed and tried to play it using the Region Override option but it doesn't work. The Wii makes some comment about it will update and if you have illegal modding it might mess up the Wii or something.

anyway how can I get the region override to work?

someone else on here has already asked that question.

For one, read the Mario Galaxy thread, it only has like 5,000 posts in it...

But if i remember, i think mario galaxy has a firmware version that can override your region firmware... I "think."

So, if it does, DO NOT update. That error message you got, disregard that message for games with older version firmware according to another member who stated that before as there have been no issues from others that causes problems.

okay. yeah I spent some time on that forum; it seems like everyone is dealing with a copy of the game as opposed to just a region code problem. and yeah there are like 5000 posts...
but anyway if anyone has an answer...

I have the same situation and I posted about this in the other thread. You can read about it there but long story short, I have been unable to play this game (real Japanese disc) in my modded US Wii. I updated to 3.1U first, then allowed the disc to "update" my Wii which allowed me to see the logo on the main menu, but not actually play the thing.
