Is there anyway to make my 20gb PS3 wifi enabled. I one heard of a driver-less usb wifi adapter. Does anyone have any experience with one of these. Price is not a factor, I just want something that works. Our home is currently enabled with wireless B, should I upgrade?

I'm one of the few with a PS3 20 (only because the PS3 60 wasn't available). Anyway, I connected it very simply:

wireless game adapter (that you sync with any computer on your network)

plug into the PS3

and voila.

The wireless game adapter plugs into the PS3 with an Ethernet cable. I've had no issues.

I guess I should expand a little on my current situation. I just purchased COD4 and want to play online. I have my laptop very close to my PS3 and I am currently sharing its internet connection via an Ethernet cable. It allows me to check out the PS store but beyond that, my connection is worthless. Last night it took about 30min to find an online game. When I started to play, it was extremely jittery and finally kicked me out after about 10min of play. When I download a demo from the PS store, it can take up to 2 weeks to get a game around 1gb. We weren't meant to live this way people! Am I right to assume that the WGA54G will work better than my laptop. Thanks for you help Pink. I take it you like Reservoir Dogs. One of my favorite movies. Definitely in my top 10. I used to play poker as Mr. Blonde with an avatar of Michael Madsen in shades with a sig. If you haven't seen Dogs you'll have no idea what were talking about. Sorry

If you're current setup with your laptop is not working well then its unlikely that any other adapter would do better (unless your laptop only supports 802.11B or something...). If you want a better connection you could try get a wireless-N router and the appropriate USB adapter for your laptop but I don't think it is worth it- wired is far better in terms of lag in games.

Whenever I connect the PS3 directly to my router it runs very fast. But the speed just seems to die when I share the connection from my laptop. Is it possible that the laptop restricts the bandwidth. Almost like it keeps most of the speed for itself?

Do you mean with an ethernet cable? Then its obvious that its gonna be faster than the wireless

This is my router:

That's in the basement. My room, where the PS3 is, is 2 floors up from there.

This is the wireless game adapter I bought:

Even when I have both my computers on (since I'm always doing DVD work), I experience no slow down on the PSN. I never lose connection either.

i have my ps3 connected to my labtop and my wifi router a floor above it across the house and it runs fast even with one or two torrents downloading on the labtop and my other computer. Try rebooting your labtop and closing all programs, it also helps if your rounter's firmware is modded for higher speed ! :)

@ vic_69x"Modded" for high speed. What do you mean?

So basically it sounds like my money would be better spent upgrading my router and continuing to us my laptop, as apposed to keeping the same router and buying a new Ethernet game adapter. Here at the house, we have 3 identical laptops that are wireless b-g compatible, so I assume wireless n is a waste of cash. Any opinions on the absolute best wireless g router. Mr_Pink recommended http://www.netgear.com/Products/Routersa...ays/WPN824.aspx . Other recommendations welcome.

Your other issue could be the distance and structure(s) in the way of the Wifi signal.
