I have the game rock and but do not have the guitar and drums that come with the game. With guitar hero 2 and 3 I did without the guitar and used the controller which worked out well after I got used to it. But with rock band the only thing I can get working is the microphone I have hooked up to a controller. It works as the mic should in the game. But If I connect any other controllers to be used as the guitar or drum it only gives them the option of being a microphone. There seems to be no way to assign them as the others. I guess that made the game so that it recognozes if you are using a regular controller or the guitar. Which also makes me think the wireless guitar hero controller won't work with rock band either. Though maybee the game will only accept USB controller but I have none to try. Anyone else have the game and none of the other goodies and manage to get it to work?

Unfortunately you must use the Guitar controller. Wife hates this as well but for me, it's all good since I am used to the guitar. Also, any USB PS2 Microphone will work as well.

So you can use a guitar hero guitar with rock band? Cause you could use the controller itself with GH3. Seems like it will only accept USB devices.

how did you get the headset to work. got the game last night and tried to use the headset with both the guitar and the drums as there were only two of us playing, and it wouldn't work on either one for some reason. also just tried the mic plugged into the usb port, and it wouldn't allow anyone to sign in as vocals in multi player.

you have to sign in on a normal controller then plug the headset up to that. No point for a 30 dollar microphone just spend the $10 on a headset that can be used for multiple things. This also saves you a USB port.
