hello all, noob here with some noob Q's. ive been reading up on the whole flashing thing all weekend and i think i see how it works. im anctious to get started so i started looking for the sh d163a(sata)that everyone is saying is a must have but cant find one flashed with the kreon v 1.0- i know i can do it myself but like i said, im a noobso the less steps the better. do i really need 1.0 or will .80 work fine as i suspect. also all the tutorials i see are over a yr old-has anything changed that i need to know.any help/info would be greatly appretiated.
do you need to use the one with the sata connection? I have the sh-d162c and I use it with a case as an external reader and it works fine with .8 kreon, but as for the sata connected drive, I'm not sure about that. Other than that, ripping games are the same as the guides say. Use either schtrom (my program of choice) or xbox backup creator with the kreon drive and it can get the ripping and burning of a game done right away much easier than using wxripper or so
yeah im not sure if i need the sata or not. i just went with that because my pc already uses sata and didnt want any compatability issues. so you think i can use these older posts and just download newer versions of the mentioned software and be ok? thanks for the reply
There's two more samsung models that are replacing the sh-d162c and sh-d163a as our rippers of choice. The new kreon 1.0 is suppost to work for the old 162c's and 163a's now, i have not tested that though. If you need ide buy the new ide drive, much cheaper than getting a 162c. If you find you need a sata the 163a is just about extinct so you have dig up a new one
I have SHD162C with Kreon V 0.8
Is it necessary to change/upgrade to V 1.0 or I can just leave it as is. Where cna I find this V 1.0, Ive looked ay many forums/sites but all I'm seeing is how to change/upgrade but doesn't tell me where I can find this new version.
Many say to go to "XBINS" bit even there it's only a guide but
V. 1.0 can't be found.
as far as i know the .8 should still work fine and as for finding the 1.o, my drive was flashed with it when i bought it so im not 100 percent sure where to find it but im assuming xbins has it you just need to figure out how to download from them. nobody will tell you how for some reason but you can find it.
