sorry for the noob question

My lil bro wants his PSP doing i have never even touched one

I have done a 360 a ps2 and an xbox 1 before now so am not a complete noob

does the psp require a chip or is it just a firmware flash?

no chips need =)) just custom firmware. Use 3.71 M33-3 most games for psp and ps1 emulated games works with no bugs. go to www.psp-hacks.com and go to the download sections to download the custom firmware(readme in the file to explain how to install it) if u need to downgrade ur psp jus use a psp downgrader
