Hi all.

Firstly I will apologise for another downgrade thread.

I've spent a good few days scouring over the plethora of guides on here with a view to get my PSP to the latest firmware.

Although most of the guides are quite clear with their instructions, I still find it all a bit daunting.

I would really appreciate someone telling me if and how I can sort out my PSP to enable me to continue to get the most out of it.

My PSP History

Silver PSP bought from Success HK Firmware 1.5 TA-082 motherboard.

A friend of a friend down-upgraded it to 3.10 OE-A' using god knows whatever technique. I have asked if he would be able to get it up to the latest firmware but he know longer does it.

My Concerns

Being a TA-082 board do I require an original copy of Luminaires or GTA to downgrade.
Do I need a Pandora Battery
As mine has 3.10 OE-A' do I have the recovery console on it already and therefor not need the Pandora battery
The ultimate downgrade guide on qj.net link has a guide for 2.8-3.10 but not OE it states.

I am probably asking some things that are obvious or unessacery but thought it might help if I put it down.

Thanks for your time and I hope you can be of help.

Very short and sweet, if you need more info please say so.

1.Upgrade to 3.52 m33. SInce you are already on OE you can do this quite easily.

2.After upgrading to 3.52, install update #4. 3.52-4 is a very solid cfw.

3.If you want to future proof your psp, install 3.71 m33 after installing update 4 for 3.52. This will bring you up to date, but you will have to do some extra work to get our psp back in its prior shape. If you go to 3.71, you will lose your 1.5 kernel, thankfully Alex released a 1.5 kernel addon for 3.71. This will most likely be the step you need help with, if so read here
and scroll down to "3.71 M33-2 + ADD ON-2"

Need your help again mate.

I think I bricked the PSP when I was trying to update to 3.71 M33

I had the unit working at 3.52 but was getting some errors on a few ISO's so I checked my firware and it was at 3.52 not 3.52-4 which I thought it was.
So I updated it and again the ISO's were still giving errors.

So I updated to 3.71 M33. I put the UPDATE folder in the PSP\GAME folder with the the 3.71 eboot and then ran it.
When flashing it stated that some keys were incorrect, possibly due to a downgrade so it fixed them and then tryed to apply the FW but as it was flashing it went back to the menu and came up with an error saying something was wrong. It was quite a long message. So I went and deleted the update files and thought I would just leave it at 3.52-4.

I turned it off and then on again. The green power light comes on but nothing on the screen. I tried holding down the top right clear button when pressing the power switch to get to the recovery but nothing happened.

Is it dead?.
Have I screwed it?.
Can you help?.....

Sounds like a full brick to me. All you can do now is recover it with a Pandora Battery.

You can go HERE and follow this guide but you will need to know someone that has a custom firmware PSP to create the files needed and to convert the battery to a Pandora Battery.

After you have recovered the PSP and if your still having issues running your ISO/CSO files go HERE and follow these steps to get them working.

Turns out my friend no longer has his psp so can't use it to make a pandora battery.
Can anyone lend me one as I am a bit dubious about getting one of ebay or sending mine off.

Thanks for the help so far.

Am going to buy a pandora battery but need to know how to make the memory card and if it has to be a specific card.

I have a 2gb and 4gb card. Both say magic gate on them but if I check info on an iso file it doesn't mention supported, is this important. Or will any psp memory card do.

My Pandora battery and memory stick with the files on has turned up.

Can anyone point me to instructions on how to use it please.

All the threads about Pandora seem to have the process of making the battery and formatting the stick which I don't need.

Grab the PSP that your going to use the Pandora Battery on. Take the Battery out and set it aside so you don't get it mixed up with the Pandora Battery.

Place the magic memory Stick inside the PSP then insert the Pandora Battery. The green power lead light should come on automatically and the Memory Stick/WiFi leds should blink and a menu should come up for you to recover/downgrade/upgrade the PSP.

Thanks for the reply.

Do I need to downgrade to 1.50 and then go back up in stages to 3.71 M33

Or do I go straight to 3.71 M33

It depends what you have on the Magic Memory Stick.

Different Magic Memory Sticks can recover the PSP to different custom firmwares or even 1.50 firmware.

It did come with instructions. I followed them, although after pressing the cemetry v3 menu the screen went blank. I followed the instructions and even with the screen blank i could see the lights flashing so hoped it worked and it did.

PSP back and on 3.71 m33 and I also changed the homebrew kernal to 1.5

But now none of my ISO files work they all come back with an error.

Is this a PSP SLIM? if so 1.50 kernel is listed but not available.

Go HERE and follow the steps to get your ISO/CSO games working.

Its a FAT PSP and alot of the ISO's were working when I had it on 3.10 OE but most of the newer ones not.

Hence why I eventually upgraded.

But now none work.

Very strange.

Did you go to the link I provided above and follow the steps to get them to work?

It probably is the UMD setting. Press select for the VSH menu and under UMD MODE change it to Sony NP9660.
