So after playing Rainbow Six: Vegas for a few months I think my luck ran out. I played Halo 3 for the first time tonight and jumped off to eat, now it won't even log back into Xbox Live.

Does this ban work from having a flashed console or because of the backup itself?

I was told when I bought it there were no issues with this - looks like I should have done my homework.

Is there any way to correct this?

My internet works, the xbox test works until it get to Live where it fails and I got an email last week that my Xbox runs out on December 8th.

Is there anyway, or anywhere I can go, to tell?

Did it happen to u tonight?

The guy I bought it from said I should have had a firmware update. I understand I should have known more but he should update me since I bought it from him and continue to buy games from him.

Would updated firmware have stopped this?

How do you tell what firmware?

I will buy another for me for X-Mas but need to know if it will be an Elite or an Elite modded.

So people are playing tonight and not getting banned with different firmware?

If you tell me it was me not updating the firmware. (I also wanted to know how I can tell what firmware I have)

If keeping up is what it takes I will get another modded one and keep an ear for updates. If not, go with an original console for Halo 3 online.

I may keep banned one for campaigns on backups - and buy originals for multi-player killing scenerios.

Yeah that was most likely the problem there. There was a MAJOR MAJOR update to the 360 firmware back in may and june that helped protect you from xbox live bans. most likely if you have a modded xbox after june then its Ixtreme if not it is the unsafe xtreme firmware.
