Ok, I just bought myself a Wii Zapper. (YAYYYY!) And when I insert the Link's Crossbow Training disc that came along with it, it asked to start update. So with all this bricking going on and even http://wiki.gbatemp.net/index.php?title=...ty_List:_NTSC-J have nothing on it, I'm worried to start it. So I'm gonna wait for someone to reply b4 i start. I have a jap wii btw, semi-bricked, not sure what firmware. Please reply ASAP as I wanna play.

Key things to mention when asking about bricking:
Region of the Wii (JAP)
Region of the Game you bought (???)
If they match, you're safe.

I think you'd be in trouble if you let it do the update. Best option is to wait for someone else to try it. If you've updated your Wii to 3.1j, then you should be safe... maybe =/
The other option is to download it and use the brick blocker app.

Does anyone know what update is actually on Links Crossbow Training?
I just bought the game and noticed it was going to do an update so I didn't hit 'ok'. I am using a wiikey and current system is a 2.1u I believe.. can't remember. I am tryin' to avoid updating my system as much as possible just to be safe. So if anyone can shed some light on what update is on it I'd appreciate it.
Oh and if I hijacked this thread, sorry to the topic creator..

Well....I decided to let it update, and well, luckily nothing happened, it updated and there's no double channels or anything. But when I tried to start the game, it just shows a black screen......So well, crap.....what's the problem now?

Forget what I wrote here, I think you need to eject the disc and pop it back it THEN you can play.

do you remember what system version your wii was at prior to updating? After you ran the update what version is your wii at now? I'm guessing you've been updated to version 3.1U... you can find the version in the wii system settings (top righthand corner)
I'm at version 3.0U and I'm worried about what it might do to my wii and playing backups...

Sadly, I have no idea what firmware my Wii is. Cos it has been semi-bricked by Pokemon Battle Revo, and I can't access my settings page. But I think it is safe, as after the update my Wii is STILL semi-bricked, so if it had updated it to 3.1, it will be unbricked. So it should be ok to update with Link's Crossbow....don't think it's a BIG update. But this is just my view, update it with crossed fingers.
Btw: I'm using a NTSC-US game on a NTSC-J wii...so I'm not sure for NTSC-E wii users. NTSC-US wii users using a NTSC-US game obviously won't have problems.
