When I compressed the game the video footage lags when played. Would this be because I compressed it to much? I might go down to like a 7 or 8 compression instead of a 9 compression. By the way I ripped it from the actual cd's I own from like 7 years ago. Do you think that is the problem?

Try to increase your CPU speed of your PSP to 333 MHz. Does it lag on a PS1? Could be that the discs are bad. Also try no compression, like you said. Change the disc load speed to fast by hitting HOME-> Settings when the PS1 game is loaded.

lol really weird but I did compression 8 then 5 then 2 and lastly 0 and then I was like wtf ITS STILL LADDING. So I went into the settings and changed final fantasy disc load speed from fast to normal, and it doesn't lag anymore, so I compressed it to level 9 and its all good. That makes no sense, shouldn't it work better if you are running the disc on fast speed.

Yes, and No. The disc load speed works in some games but in others it makes the game lag/unstable.
