I appreciate the response I get from this question: I just wanted to know if the only way that your Nintendo Wii can get bricked is by using a game from another region?

So am I right in saying that even if SMG or any new games that come out with this protection run on my Wii with old firmware, I won't brick my Wii, I will only get the unauthorized error?

ntsc SMG wouldnt run on my pal wii without updateing the firmware which i did, didnt brick my wii just gave the double hannels which were promptly moved off the main menu, had no other problems since apart from a few ntsc games not running which is no big deal as they are incompatable anyway according to the list. Dunno about future updates as its impossible to tell what can happen but if your worried about brickin the wii just dont play out of region games.
