Real x box 360 newbie here. I've been downloading movies and books from newsgroups for a long time and can't seem to get x box 360 games to work on my 360 console. Tried burning with DVDFab, ImagBurn, CloneDVD2, etc but always get message "to view this dvd insert in x box 360 console". Xbox is brand new no mods. What am I doing wrong? What amd I missing here?

You need to mod your 360, why do u think u can play burned 360 games without any mods? Just curious.

Thank you for your reply. Much obliged. Like I said I'm real new to x box stuff. I download ripped movies and didn't need to mod my dvd player so I thought it was the same deal. How do I find out more and what mods or info do I need to look into? I read a burning tutorial posted and it mentioned some firmware stuff but I'm not sure about the way this stuff works. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

A video DVD is just a widely used format, much like a music CD, or even VHS and cassettes where many companies are allowed to make players for them unlike xbox games or PS3 games. You don't need to mod a radio to play a burned CD either. I believe the only CD/DVD based videogame that could be copied/played like regular CD and DVD media was the Dream Cast, all other systems needed some type of mod.

Regarding Xbox 360 mods, you start by finding out what type of DVD drive you have, and that will determine which modding procedure you have to follow. Read the FAQs on this thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/488409 and download and follow this tutorial http://www.360mods.net/Downloads/get=61.html

I use usenetserver.com, its about the cheapest out there with unlimited downloads, but they have been having recent problems with there servers and I get annoying connection issues, so I am going to pay a little extra and get giganews after my billing cycle expires.

Bubba, can't help but notice, you are always so angry in your posts, why are you that way? I really wouldn't worry about what people post and if it's against the TOS, you're not the board policeman so don't stress yourself out.
