I am new to PS2 modding and I want to know what the best mod chip out there is. I have a version 4 PS2. If the best chip happens to require soldering, is soldering hard? I have the tools at home and stuff and can practice, but I'm just wondering if it's if a noob can do it.

ok the best chip is a matrix green dot but soldering is extremely dangerous if you're a noob because the points are so close. If you really want to play backups buy swap magic and a flip top or slide card
(not the no solde mod that burns the ps2) I recomend the flip top but its up to you

Wanna play youtube on your psp heres my guide http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/552565#3342784
