PSP v 2.81, do i upgrade or downgrade

I have recently bought a 2nd hand psp and I'd like to know how I go about hacking it in order to play homebrew, and backup games.

I have read various pages on here, but still not too sure how to go on.

The psp firmware which I have is 2.81,

I have several memory cards, 32mb, 128mb and 1gb (does this make a difference which I use to flash)

I don't have access to anyone else with a psp, and only have one battery,

from the stuff I've read it appears that i'd need a) an older psp
and/or

b) a second battery,

c) a copy of grand theft auto (to use to flash the system, read it somewhere)

are these true, or can I do it without as this would be so much better for me.

U can downgrade by using pandora battery or useing the GTA downgrader, or Lumines. Your choice, use google.

Pandora Battery, u can use 1 battery
