Flashed 360 drive wont play all games

Ok I have a mate who got his 360 drive flashed. 90% of the games will work ok but some of them have jerky video footage at cut scenes and some wont boot or will crash during play.

I have tried these games on my 360 and they work no bother at all, infact I did him the game again and again and every time they work on mine but not his. I used Datawrite yellows and also the new Datawrite printables, both always burned at 2x, some times even 1x, and I have even tried 2 different burners, but the same games always fail.

Most games are fine, infact most games work nice and fast with no bother but some are giving these problems.

I just need to know before I order a replacment drive is there any chance this could be the firmware that was flashed or is this definitly a drive fault as the disk's are working 100%.

Help on this issue would be greatfully welcomed.

This is a case of a laser is dying and not a firmware issue. That's how it starts when a drive/laser starts to go. First a couple of backups won't work. Then it's more and more until none work. Originals will still work for a good bit and then after a while those won't work anymore either. Forgot about pot tweaking or getting a new laser. Just get a new drive and you'll be much happier.

Thats what I thought, just needed to see what others thought.

I have heard that the hitachi drives are the best so I plan to get one of them, but do I need the original firmware to change this or can I get all the info I need from the faulty drive with the hacked firmware on it?

you can get the firmware key from your hacked firmware to use for a replacement drive.

The drives are locked to any region and there are tons of them on ebay.

So the region locking dosent go on the drive its self but the console? So that would mean that I can get the drive from anywhere?
