And no, a Fat PSP battery cover won't work with a Slim PSP.
if i buy one should i buy a 1800 or 2200mah battery?

i see so i can use a fat psp battery, but i just wont be able to close the cover while doing the downgrade. afterwards can i use my original slim battery after i complete the downgrade?

i don't see any mention of backing up my psp slim, do i use Nand for that?

in your opinion would you go out and buy a fat psp battery or risk screwing up my buddies phat psp since this is my 1st time doing this?

1800mAh is enough.

Once you open the FAT battery and cut the 5th pin, you re-close the battery and then use it to downgrade and afterwards use your PSP Slim battery.

I don't think that after cutting the pin off the battery will still be useable for normal PSP surfing. I think it'ss stay permanently as a Pandora's Battery so if you'll use the one battery process, buy a battery and keep it so that if you brick your PSP or you wanna downgrade it, it'll stay handy.

If you wanna use the normal way using this guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/580254

use a friend's battery and back up the eeprom.bin (it's what makes the battery work normally) and once you finish downgrading, you restore the eeprom.bin and give the PSP and teh battery back to your friend.

i have 1 gb mem stick that i will use for all of this, is it useable after i format it and back it up after i am done downgrading...

is there a picture of what i have to remove inside of the battery somewhere so i am sure i am removing the right thing?

btw is there is a live chat area we can talk on like on an irc chat?
if i screw something up what should i do at that point? i see some users follow the steps and then there psp slim doesn't work, etc......

You can always convert a Memory Stick Duo back to normal by just formatting it.

I have no images but after I read the guide, if you take off the wrong pin, try putting it back and yes, it has to be a FAT battery. It will work on your Slim.

Sorry for double post.

You should buy a cheap battery and try the guide in case it breaks it won't bother you.
