Can PS2 games be played on the 40gb PS3 without any problems or changes?
Can PS2 games be played on the 80GB PS3 without problems or changes?

No, PS2 games can't be played on a 40GB PS3

Most PS2 games will work, but it uses software emulation so some games that work on a 60GB PS3 may not work on an 80GB.

Yes. The 60GB PS3 has a PS2 processor inside it so it should have 100% backwards compatibility.

No the UK 60gb PS3 runs Ps2 games through Emulation,sony decided to take the PS2 components out about 3 months before release to save them money,the bigest majority of PS2 games work on it but some dont,this should be fixed in the future through firmware upgrades.

I was just wondering...
I know that PS2 Games cannot be played on the PS3, but what about the Downloadable games from the Sony Store. You can DL a PS2 Game from the Sony Store and play it on the PS3 right, Or was I mistaken?
I was on the phone with a sales rep that stated that PS2 games from the Sony store were playable on the PS2, however i do believe that she had no idea what I was talking about and just wanted to sell me the product.(Great salesmanship!).
Anyone know anything about this???

Do you mean PS2 backups? Because regular PS2 games can be played on PS3.. Just not the 40GB version.
